Experience a world of art and culture at the Noosa Regional Gallery
Expose yourself to a whole new world of culture at the Noosa Regional Gallery. The gallery has an ever changing roster of artists, so whether it’s your first time in Noosa or your hundredth you are sure to see something new and interesting.
The gallery was established in 1981, making it one of the oldest regional galleries in Queensland. It is located on the Noosa River in Tewantin. The main shopping precinct full of restaurants and cafes is just a short walk away so dinner, afternoon tea and the rest of your day is sorted without even moving the car.
Art & Masterclasses
Why just look at the art when you could get fully immersed in it? Let your inner artist out in one of the gallery’s masterclasses or workshops.
There are art classes for everyone, no matter your skill set. Beginners and accomplished artists alike can learn new skills from an internationally renowned artist in one of the adult workshops. However, if you’re more adept with visual arts, then the masterclass series are probably more up your alley.
Masterclasses cover just about any art-style your heart could desire, from sculpting to jewellery making to detailed drawing and so much more.
You can also bring your children along and let them get crafty (in a good way)! The Noosa gallery offers a range of classes for young people after school as well as during the school holidays. So, you can enjoy a peaceful coffee while your kids are safe and entertained.
Also, the gallery hosts Art Play Sunday on the second Sunday of each month from 11am – 1pm for a few hours of artsy fun for the whole family right on the riverfront.
Featured Artists
The Noosa Regional Gallery is constantly showcasing new local artist’s work. The current exhibitions include Penny McIntyre’s ‘Consequences and Prue Venables’ ‘Living Treasures: Masters of Australian Craft’.
Penny McIntyre is local silversmith and small object maker from the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. Her art is based around the idea of using your voice to make a change. She was inspired by the Me Too movement, Grace Tame and the repression of women that she wants to see stopped.
Prue Venables is an award-winning Australian ceramicist. Galleries all over the world have showcased her art. Her current piece showcases the fine details of porcelain and the ‘clarity, luminosity and quiet beauty’ of the precious clay.
Entry to both of these exhibits is free so make sure you get down to the Noosa art gallery before the 24th of April 2022 to see these artist’s pieces and support their great causes. But rest assured that even if you can’t make it to see these ladies’ lovely art there are always new and exciting local artists’ pieces on display.
