What is Plastic Free Noosa?
The Plastic Free Noosa program is an initiative of Tourism Noosa and Noosa Council. Its focus is set on working hands on with the local community, businesses, and holidaymakers to reduce its reliance on single-use plastic. In addition to this, Noosa has also made a Zero Emissions pledge with many businesses choosing to offset carbon emissions, including our two biggest breweries.
Why is it important in Noosa?
Why is it important to make the region Plastic Free? We are glad you asked! Tourism is the largest economic provider to the town of Noosa. With a population of 54,000, this can surge to around 84,000 during peak times. This is more incentive to protect the relaxing and beautiful Noosa that visitors and locals know so well. Supported efforts from the community and organisations like Plastic Free Noosa are ever so important to ensure that the impact from additional population/visitors is not an issue for our beaches, waterways, and ocean.

- 11,807,2020 pieces of plastic eliminated so far.
- Since 2018, the organisation has eliminated 4.5 million pieces of plastic in Noosa
