When to Visit Noosa

Noosa provides the ideal climate for a perfect holiday, all year-round – but your probably thinking when to visit Noosa?. The subtropical Noosa climate is comfortably mild, even in the hottest and coldest months.

 

This means you can enjoy the beaches, Noosa River and waterways, national parks, Noosa Hinterland, and more, anytime of year. There are no climate-affected limitations in anything you can do at any time of the year.

Summer (Dec-Feb)

Average Noosa temperatures: 21°C – 29°C

 

Noosa really flourishes in summer and the warmer weather inspires activity. The sunny days are the perfect time to get out and take advantage of Noosa’s wide range of water activities. Learn to surf at one of the beautiful beaches or cool down in the Noosa River or a Noosa Everglades tour. Noosa’s abundance of shopping locations, arcades, galleries and so much more are alive with activity.

Autumn (Mar-May)

Average Noosa temperatures: 20°C – 23°C


Noosa is spectacular in Autumn with a crispness in the air and a softening of the sun’s light. The beginning of Autumns in Noosa is initially still very warm, and it start to cool down as Autumn heads towards winter. These temperatures are ideal for beach days with the water still warm enough to swim in. The sun produces just enough heat to sunbake and build sandcastles with the kids, without breaking a sweat.

Winter (Jun-Aug)

Average Noosa temperatures: 10°C – 21°C

 

Winter is the favourite time in Noosa for many of our guests, particularly from colder climates. Those wishing to escape the rain and cold come to Noosa to enjoy unseasonably warm and comfortable weather. These months are also the driest and most sunny, providing the perfect opportunity to warm up or sunbake on the golden sand. The beaches and public spaces are typically quieter. Watch the waves go by, or take a bush walk through Noosa National Park.


At this time of year, it is also one of the best opportunities to get out and catch a glimpse of a whale. Either from the beach or on a cruise as this is when they head north in search of warmer waters.

Spring (Sep-Nov)

Average Noosa temperatures: 14°C – 26°C


The chance of rain is minimal during spring and the temperatures are warm providing the perfect beach weather. This is also the best time to visit the national parks, not just because of the beautiful weather, but also because it is the season of new life. Native plants blossom magnificent new growth and flowers and the wildlife welcome their babies.

 
Spring also presents a second opportunity to see and swim with whales. With the water warming for summer, the whales return to Noosa’s waters with their babies during their journey back to Antarctica.
